Can I use another software than sketchup?

by Project Owner on Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Hi Anto2178.

Yes any 3D software will be accepted provided you can recreate Scene 1, Scene 2, and Scene 3.
If you can export your model as any of the following formats that would also be greatly appreciated (so we can open the geometry in sketchup):
.SKP
.3DS
.DXF
.DAE
.DEM
.DDF

Hi Designers.

Just to clarify the key scope for this contest is design of three balustrades and development of an overall bridge colour scheme. The key outputs are the rendered versions of Scene 1, Scene 2, and Scene 3 (blanks are provided in the brief). You can use any 3D or graphic software to recreate these scenes.

Please export your 3D model as any of the following formats (so we can open the geometry in sketch-up or AutoCAD):

.SKP (preferred)
.3DS
.DXF
.DAE
.DEM
.DDF

If you cannot export in any of the above 3D formats you will need to clearly show an isometric image with the key dimensions for each balustrade type so we can confirm it is compliant and we can re-create it in Sketchup.

The key objective is to receive creative and interesting balustrade designs and entries will be assessed on that basis. Adding people, trees, buildings, etc is not required but would be regarded as a bonus if entries are similar in creative quality. To help create the surrounding you can use the existing bridge photos in the zip file for inspiration.

Good luck everyone!

Please convert the existing file sketch up 18 to sketch up 14.. Im using sketchup 14.thanks

I am away on business until Wednesday and do not have access to change the sketchup model. I can create a 2014 version on Wednesday. Alternatively, you could try importing the DXF file into sketchup 2014 or have someone else convert it for you.
Thanks.

Brief Update: All balustrade should remain parallel with the slope. This will require smaller panel lengths of the flat portions of the ramp.
