Logo Design Brief
We need to convert a family crest (see "Original") into a logo, similar to the logo used by William Grant & Sons (see "Reference"), as well as create the logo text that will sit either below or beside the logo. The family crest should be simplified into a monochromatic logo. The original image has a mix of blue, red, gold, grey and black. The logo will be colored black, white or gold/copper for use. The designer will need to determine which parts of the logo should be shaded, similar to the Reference logo. Each asset (e.g. knife, boat, helmet, etc.) should be thought of as a layer of the overall design and, therefore, must be created as standalone assets so that they can be used individually for other purposes. The individual assets need to be consolidate so the file can be edited in Adobe with minimal effort . We have had issues with this in the past, so this is really important. The logo should be timeless yet modern in interpretation, giving a sense of tradition, heritage and progress. We believe the Reference file serves as a good example of this. The motto ("Semper Pro Honore") font may need to be revised to reflect the design language outlined above, but should not deviate too far from the original font.
Target Market(s)
Primarily serves B2B interaction with small to medium businesses (SMB), but will gain B2C exposure in long-term.
Industry/Entity Type
Agribusiness
Logo Text
The logo text is "McPhee & Sons" (see "Text"). The logo uses superscripted and underline characters for the letters "C" and "O". We are happy with this overall design, but are open to different interpretations of this font design or other fonts altogether. We are looking for a font that strikes a balance between vintage and modern. Our early thinking is something that is almost a Sans Serif a such as Beaufort. The text should be designed with all capital letters. The font should be familiar in structure, but demonstratively distinct and complimentary through the use of unique characters.
