Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a young racing driver. His initials are JLS and it should be a 3-letter logo. As the L is his second name, it can also be a 2-letter logo (JS). He wants to have a golden logo (incl. reflections). The logo must be usable on black as well as white backgrounds. There can be an outlined version for using it on a white paper.
It would be cool if the letters (no matter if the JLS or JS version) has an indicated double meaning - Helmet, racing silhouette, trophy, whatever...!
He absolutely likes the attached logo which you can see as a starting point and maybe you can keep the idea an make something like a helmet out of it.
