Logo Design Brief

We're a husband and wife team, operating our dog-walking business, The Roving Hound, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. We specialize in off-leash pack walks in dog parks in and around Saskatoon, which is in the prairies. We enjoy hiking with the dogs in parks with wooded areas that have access to the South Saskatchewan River. There should be no city-scape, or anything suggesting a city in the logo, as the intent with the dogs is to get them out into the "wild" so they can exercise being dogs - smelling, digging, swimming, chasing chipmunks up trees, etc. Trees and/or a river could be incorporated into the design, if it made sense. We're open to either a logo with colour ("nature" colours such as blue, green and yellow), or a silhouette design - whatever would work better. We walk year-round, even in the cold and snow, so I don't know how a "summer" image would look when it's minus 30 degrees outside and there's 3 feet of snow (?). First instinct is that there should be multiple dogs in the design, of varying sizes and breeds, to convey that we take any and all dogs out. And there should be no leash in the design, our dogs get freedom - think "what's the happiest a dog could be?". In addition to the name of our company, we have both a tagline, "Healthy Hikes for Dogs", and a motto, "A Tired Dog is a Happy Dog". We're open to either one of those in the design - or neither. If neither works with the design, that's fine, but then the design must clearly convey what our company does. We will be creating car magnets (and eventually a wrap to be installed on the vehicles) with the design, so if we don't use either saying, the intent has to be self-explanatory and the logo has to work in various sizes, from a business card to the back half of a van. We like very much a vintage-style logo or something hand-drawn, or to combine both would be amazing. No cartoons. Our company name comes across a bit literary, so if the logo flowed in the same kind of vein, that would be great. The final design should make potential customers say "I want that for my dog!". I've attached a few logos, the first is the only dog-walking company logo I've ever seen that I really like. The 2nd: I just like the log, bringing the nature and idea of adventure in. The 3rd: I like how they combined the vintage and the drawing. The 4th: it doesn't need to be symmetrical. The 5th: so whimsical, I adore it. Thank you very much for considering us and we are very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with! (Oh, and that said, we don't know anything - you're the pro - if you have a better idea, or something we didn't even consider, we'd be happy to see it!)

Target Market(s)

Our customers range wildly, from young professionals who are too busy to walk their dogs, to older individuals who physically can't take their dogs out. I guess our target is simply anyone who loves their dog(s).
