Logo Design Brief

Hello designers,

I would like to start this update by sincerely thanking all of you for your entries. I will admit, out of all the contests I have run over the years, usually for clients, this is proving to be quite a popular contest. Thank you all!

First and foremost, if you are submitting "Mockup" designs, generic designs, or templates, please stop. This is something we stated clearly in our brief NOT TO DO. There has been a lot of inspirational and quality designs, and we aren't directing this paragraph towards those artists.

For the current artists working on designs, or artists who would like to revise present Four or Five Star Designs, please read our suggestions below:

Overview: Besides specifics, our highest contesting designs are those that portray our companies Greek Mythology Theme on some level. This includes Icons, Typography, and either significant or minor details that clearly relate to Greek Mythology in some way. If you have been working on a design that does not compare to our theme, we suggest adding an element that does. At the end of the day, your Logo could look the best, but lose the contest because it is entirely irrelevant to our company.
We suggest sticking to a minimalist design overall, that appeals to upper-class American women ranging from 18-35. Greek Mythology is something that is taught in our schools at a very young age, making it relatable to almost every adult.

Feel free to follow our suggestions below, although you are not obligated too.

Ancient Lust Font: So far our most desirable font types (but not all) have been those who include "Ancient Lust" as one word WITH the "L" slightly more extensive, or somehow distinguishable enough to be portrayed as Two Words, without the massive gap in-between. This looks especially more professional in our minds and will save both you and I time for revisions.
Also, please note when coloring the font, we suggest a Dark Gold Primary, with a Light Gold Secondary. This has proven to look extremely sexy and luxurious, which we desire.
Finally, we suggest using a bold font, and possibly one that has a modern greek feel (it's hard to describe the specific font type we desire, and we are unaware of the name) Note this font IS NOT "Lithos Pro Font", we are well aware of this.

Ancient Lust Icon: This is a tricky and broad area. So far our best designs have been unique and comparable to our theme. We suggest using either Gold or Yellow primary colors.

Lastly, due to the high number of submissions, we are only answering questions about submitted designs. If you have a question, please send your draft, AND STATE whether or not it is a draft, and we will get back to you generally within 12 hours.

About Us:

Ancient Lust LLC is an eCommerce site featured around Female Jewelry including; Harnesses, Bralettes, Chains, Accessories, and select clothing that fits our brand identity. We are very meticulous when it comes to our brand identity and the products we offer. A large part of our value will be within the shopping experience. You’ll notice while browsing our site a theme that’s set-in-place, “Greek Mythology.” Our slogan as of today (not permanent) is “Dress Like a Modern Goddess.”

Our name has a few meanings, here are our best descriptions:

Ancient: This represents the styling of our Jewelry and its deep roots in history. Ancient is old, but also exclusive, something ancient isn’t around in this modern day. We believe this gives us an Exclusive Value when shopping. The image set in our minds is in the way Queens, Goddesses, and Royal women dressed long ago. It’s an Ancient style brought back to modern-day America.

Google Definition: “Belonging to the very distant past and no longer in existence.”

Lust: This has two meanings to us. Lust represents a sexual desire for someone or something. But to us, Lust most importantly describes our products and their Lust-rous (lustrous/luster) designs. Nearly every product on our site is made with crystal rhinestones, diamonds, or gold and silver.

Dictionary Definition of Lustrous: “Having luster; shining; luminous.”
Dictionary Definition of Luster: 1. “the state or quality of shining by reflecting light; glitter, sparkle, sheen, or gloss” (there’s more if you’re interested)

Wiki Definition of Lust: “Lust is a craving, it can take any form such as the lust for sexuality, lust for money or the lust for power. It can take such mundane forms as the lust for food as distinct from the need for food. Lust is a psychological force producing intense wanting for an object, or circumstance fulfilling the emotion.”

Ancient Lust: Together you have an ancient forbidden sexual desire that illuminates the customer whenever they wear our exclusive products.

Before You Continue, Please Note:

- If you dedicate many hours to this design we are willing to increase your payout. E.G., Send us a sketch and if we like the concept we will solely hire you!

- We do accept sketches if you’d like to get your idea submitted before you spend hours working. If you do submit a sketch, let us know in the description.

- The Designer who wins this contest will be offered Graphic Design opportunities in the immediate future; this IS NOT a requirement, please continue to submit.

- We will need a logo with at least 2000px or more and .psd , .jpeg , .png formatted file versions. Instagram profile picture optimized version.

- The final logo MUST include typography and an icon that will clearly reflect our brand upon viewing. If you’d like to submit a Text and Icon version separate that is fine, but their theme should match.

- Although we haven’t launched (no marketing) sales have been coming in, once we begin our campaigns, we would like to have a designer dedicated to our company, this IS NOT a requirement so, please continue to submit a listing.

- Lastly and most importantly, please submit your inspired design! We DO NOT want to set creative boundaries that would reflect on your work. Our company started with creative inspiration, and is growing the same way, be inspired! If we like your design but need something changed, we will humbly let you know.


What are we looking for?

style that matches our website, brand, and our silver/gold rhinestone products. The logo shouldn’t be considered “Ancient” when you see it, but at the same time it needs to express our exclusiveness.

Color Scheme:
-Yellow (Golds) - We would love to see a design with a gold glitter coloring.
-Light Neutrals
-Dark Neutrals
Optional: Diamond Blue if you can make it work, but only if so.

Note: If you are inspired by a different color scheme V.S. the one I have selected, I am not setting creative boundaries. Feel free to submit your best visualization.

Typography: Should be detailed, a bold style with a hint of elegance, Fashion Nova is a great example, just make sure it’s unique to our brand. If you have a style you think would look good GO FOR IT!
Possibly something elegant but not cursive? Just make sure it has enough detail to make it unique.

WE DO NOT want a pre-generated logo with no detail. If you submit such label it as a “Sketch”, otherwise you will not be considered.

Icon: Currently we're unsure of this. Possibly a diamond? Be creative and think about our brand's image when creating the unique Icon.

Shading/Detailing: YES! Please make the text and icon both shaded adequately and detailed, or at least let us know you're able to do this when submitting. We understand this part can be very meticulous and time-consuming.

Must include both Typography and Icon. Can be either separated or joint with each other.

Again, all submissions should fulfill our Ancient Lust theme as described above, unless you truly believe in another theme. We can be optimistic!

7. A backdrop of black or white (probably white) is preferred. Refer to the color scheme of our website for reference.

8. The logo should represent our “Ancient” and “Lust + Luster + Lustrous” descriptions listed above (About Us).

9. This Guideline is just a preference; we prefer a bold "Helvetica/Futura" typography so long as it’s DETAILED. When we say detailed, we don’t mean a Gradient Overlay from photoshop. Our own graphic designers can do that easily.

10. The logo shouldn’t be considered “Ancient” when you see it, but at the same time, it needs to express our exclusiveness.

IDEA: We do enjoy one specific element of our current logo. At the bottom of the A/L the letters "fade" away. If you'd like to submit typography like that, we think it'd look great! Just be sure to incorporate that style into the full text.
