Logo Design Brief

Thor Furniture is a new company based out of Scottsdale, AZ that procures beautiful furniture (patio, leather, wicker and custom designed furniture) from international sources and then markets the furniture through ads on the internet to potential buyers. The buyers would see ads and the logo on ads on the internet and then be taken to thorfurniture.com to see photos of the in-stock merchandise. If they like what they see there on the internet or in the ads directly, they call to schedule an appointment at a warehouse facility to examine the furniture more and possibly buy it on site.
The logo is critical because so much of the business is internet ad driven where often the first thing they see when hitting the ad or going to the site is the logo. It has to be clean, appealing, and have emotional connection with female buyers. Given "Thor" is such a strong name, we have to be careful-we need the logo, color and font to be softened up, have some emotional softness/draw, and be a bit feminized/appeal to the female buyers as well and not be overly strong/male oriented (the name "thor" is male enough and we want that to convey the durability, strength, and quality). Color will be critical because it will set the design for our future website. Color needs to fit in with the environment of where people place the furniture and product line itself. The logo should designate quality and tremendous value and extreme comfort. Our value proposition is incredibly low prices than other store bought furniture but with extraordinary quality and comfort. Given the furniture business is headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ and will carry a lot of patio/wicker (outdoor SW style) furniture, something that conveys a little of the West/SouthWest comfort and ease is good too-although down the road we may want to extend the business to other states. Keep in mind Thor will also sell leather couches, love seats, as well.
Ashley Furniture is a huge furniture store that has a very feminine name-somehow, we want the audience (largely female) to trust "Thor" instead of "Ashley" and feel like they can bond and trust with "Thor" more than Ashley-perhaps because Thor is more dependable, reliable, but still caring and trustworthy like an "Ashley" name.
Like the Ashley logo, it is the word "Thor" that should be most visible, with furniture playing the minor role. The surrounding graphic and fonts are critical.

Note: Ideally, we would be able to use just the word "Thor" for other divisions of Thor Enterprises later of different products even apart from just the furniture business. However, for this logo design, we want to include the word "Furniture" as well but at the end be able to have 2 logos: one with the word furniture built in and one without for various uses within Thor Furniture advertising. (product pictures are attached).
