Just curious..why there are some designs appear on the front page of the contest? Are they the front-runners?

There are over 2600 submissions, and only a few judges, so this is going to take time. The winner is announced on December 12, right? Christmas time in NYC, what an awesome experience that will be. However, if the designs are eliminated, then doesn't Design Crowd have an automatic notification for such a popular contest? I'd also like to know what your definition of cutting edge is? Does the logo have to be cutting edge or can it have some of the old NYC? If we don't have images of NYC or Times Square in our image files, can we borrow some from your site and still be qualified to enter?
