we have a new professional business (run by a psychologist)- neurofeedback east. when talk therapy does not work, we need to first rebalance the central nervous system (CNS). we do this by reading the brain waves through an EEG machine. the central nervous only pays attention to the unfamiliar. So in real time, when the EEG picks up over active (results in panic, aggression etc) or under active (collapse, hopeless, depression etc) brain wave activity it gives feedback in the form of a pause in music being listened to through ear phones. the pause, because it is unfamiliar to the CNS, is sufficient to make the central nervous system pay attention and once it pays attention, it must create a new response. The new response is congruent with the healthy functioning of the CNS which ultimately leads to changes in emotional, cognitive and behavioral patterns. This allows for ease of psychotherapeutic interventions. The final design would communicate health, hope, movement, change, present, mind body connection.
