Logo Design Brief
Create a logo for our restaurant called "The Cove". Some locals know it as "The Cove Restaurant. The Facebook page is called "The Cove at PGC". The restaurant is a full-service restaurant located at a golf course in Long Beach, WA. The course is very near the beach. Check out "funbeach.com" to see the vibe of the area. Kites, clamming, and beachcombing are frequent activities. The area is known for Cape Disappointment, an area where many ships and boats have sunk due to the difficulty encountered while navigating into the Columbia River. The Golf Course (Peninsula Golf Course) leverages the "Graveyard of the Pacific" theme on every hole, where we commemorate one of the sunken ships. We would like the letter C in Cove to make people associate with the nautical / geographic term “Cove”.
cove (kəʊv)
1. (Physical Geography) a small bay or inlet, usually between rocky headlands
2. (Geological Science) a narrow cavern formed in the sides of cliffs, mountains, etc, usually by erosion
3. a sheltered place
We have an affinity to lighthouses, so if it’s possible to integrate that into the theme then all the better.
The restaurant serves "American" and "New American" food with a daily seafood and fusion specials. Check us out at https://www.facebook.com/The-Cove-at-PGC-39882454826

Target Market(s)
There are really three main demographics. Locals, Vacation Home Owners, and Visitors. The locals know us, but we want a clean, fresh, engaging logo to evoke a feeling of "hey, something new is going on at The Cove, I need to check that out". For the Vacation Home Owners, we want the same emotion. We want the logo to draw attention that things are new, fresh, changing for the better. For the visitors, we want the logo to pop on Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google, Bing, OpenTable, where ever an out-of-towner may go to find a nice place to eat. We are not a dirty spoon, nor are we high-end fine dinning. We are elevated family-friendly dining. Our lunch and dinner menus feature many of the expected options beyond pub food. The specials are often pretty unique (fusion-style dishes)

Requirements
Must have
- The Golf Course (Peninsula Golf Course) leverages the "Graveyard of the Pacific" theme on every hole, where we commemorate one of the sunken ships. We would like the letter C in Cove to make people associate with the nautical / geographic term “Cove”.
Nice to have
- **Update: Lighthouses are not a requirement, only a suggestion. Some locals are saying that lighthouses are overdone. (Was: We dig lighthouses, so something that plays into that theme or evoke the feeling that a captain / crew feel when the see the lighthouse in the distance)
- **Update** - We are receiving a lot of feedback that we need to include fir trees in the logo since our state is the Evergreen State. Here is a logo I found that has that feel (attached).
- One comment was "The Cove" is within a "cove" of old growth trees. It's a unique feature of the property.
- The colors used in our restaurant are more burgundy red and steel blue.
Should not have
- **Update** - Don't put the frog in the logo. The picture I provided was an example of a logo with trees. Don't copy the logo example. I'm trying to show an example of what I mean with evergreen trees.
