Packaging Design Brief

Vegtabowl Foods, a plant-based frozen food company specializes in making hearty and delicious comfort foods by hand and in small batches. We currently have 7 food items:

- Moroccan Mixed Vegetables (Gluten and Soy Free)
- White Bean Chixen Chili
- Chixen Salad
- Brunswick Stew (Gluten and Soy Free)
- Sweet & Smoky BBQ (Gluten and Soy Free)
- Carolina Style BBQ
- Cheezy Sauce (Gluten and Soy Free)

All of our items are VEGAN (Vegan Certified) and are NUT-FREE!

This design contest is to design the new packaging for the product: Moroccan Mixed Vegetables.

***The winner of this contest will receive additional business and be hired to design the other 6 product packaging designs.***

We would like to see packaging designs that communicate hearty food and induce appetite. The final design should communicate fresh, hearty, and vegetarian lifestyle.

Our consumers are women, aged 21 to 55. They purchase for themselves or their family. They typically purchase our foods as a way to reduce their's and their husband's meat consumption.

I have attached 3 photos of food packaging that I like.
The style of the packaging is "Straight End Tuck." I have attached a template of this style of box.

The dimensions for this box is 4 inches wide x 3 inches high x 4 inches deep (it is a cube shape)

Vegtabowl Foods is all about providing plant-based comfort foods.

To help with the design process, I am providing a few definitions of "Comfort Food." While though my company makes vegetarian and vegan food (which is typically viewed as not being satisfying) our food is very filling. I hope these definitions help with the creation of some great food packing designs the represent Vegtabowl Foods:

1. Food that provides consolation or a feeling of well-being, and associated with childhood or home cooking.

2. Food prepared in a traditional style having a usually nostalgic or sentimental appeal.

3. Food that is satisfying because it is prepared in a simple or traditional way and reminds you of home, family, or friends.

4. Defined as food that gives emotional comfort to the one eating it, these tend to be favorite foods of childhood, or linked to a person, place or time with which the food has a positive association.

Must have

• The ingredients must be the main attraction of the packaging.
• Just think about your own food shopping experience. Most packaging looks beautiful and the food looks delicious. But when you reheat the food yourself, your food doesn't look anything like the packaging. The focus on the what is actually in the food is important. Of course highlighting the finished product should be included. The packaging must also include the logo. As for the colors, please use the same/similar color scheme as the logo. Please see the attached document for font and color details. The packaging must entice customers appetite and make them really want to purchase our foods.
• ***Please save room for nutritional facts, upc bar code, and text.***** Once I am closer to selecting a design a like, I will provide the nutritional facts, UPC Bar Code and Text. The nutritional facts can be provided in horizontal or vertical format.***
