Logo Design Brief

We are in need of a logo for a newly constructed building located in the center of a quaint friendly town. The building will occupy both apartments and retail space.
In the attached file, you will see a couple of pics with lanterns attached to the building and a few ideas we found on the internet. We would like to incorporate this idea into the logo. The logo should be inviting and elegant. Not too modern but friendly is the best way to describe it. We will be using the logo for signage and advertising. We are a sign company.
