Web Design Brief

I am looking to have a simple website created for my 9 year old son's small "company." He makes necklaces and art out of beachcombed treasures and sells them for animal rescue charity. Currently, his domain name www.foxislandshellworks.com brings people straight to his facebook page, but for those who are not on FB, nothing shows up.

I would like a simple landing page + a few other clickable pages that will show his logo (already done by Design Crowd folks!) +
* photos
* a brief description about what he does
* a link to the charities he supports
* link to his Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/FoxIslandShellworks)
* are where a link to a possible etsy store could go (future, we haven't gotten that far). :)
(really just a "shop" button)
I need to be able to add and remove photos and text, add calendar dates of events he will be at, and adjust links if needed.

I hope this isn't too complicated! It doesn't need to be flashy, just an easy on the eyes page where people who are interested in his necklaces and his charity work can go to find out more. I would like to have the website incorporate the two logos (see uploads). I image the image of the child beachcombing being on the bottom anchoring the page, but that is as far as my imagination has gone regarding the web design! :)

UPDATED:
Name of web url: www.foxislandshellworks.com
Name of company: Fox Island Shellworks
Purpose: Charlie is 9 years old. He beachcombs with his family all over the United States and finds wonderful shells, seaglass, and pottery. His mom helps him drill the holes in these piece and then he creates one of a kind necklaces using these beachcombed treasures and silver charms. He also makes sweet shell, seaglass and driftwood angels (Charlie's Angels). All shells are responsibly collected. Every piece is designed by Charlie.

At least 20% off all proceeds from every sale goes to animal rescue charity.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: An illness and unexpected out of town trip prevented me from getting timely responses to designers, as well as addition content uploaded. I would like to add additional time so I can properly comment as well as upload content, giving everyone time to work on their great designs. Thank you all so much for the incredible designs that have been submitted thus far. This little project means so much to me! Cheers - Kalli

I want to thank everyone, truly, for the amazing designs that were done on behalf of Charlie and his little company, Fox Island Shellworks.  It took us a long time to decide on a winning design.  There were no "rejected" designs, they were all very well done. It was really moving for me to see how many people worked on these designs because of Charlie and his charity work.  For that, I am very grateful.

I sat with Charlie and he went over the designs that moved him the most, then I went through to be sure there were designs I would be able to manage.  We are very happy to have chosen a winner, but want you all to know that it was not easy and you all did an outstanding job.

Thank you to everyone who participate.  I have another website that I manage for a non-profit that needs some additions and I will be certain to include you all in the email info for that when I get it underway!

All the best, and thank you again! From Kalli and Charlie at Fox Island Shellworks

Target Market(s)

The target market for his necklaces is typically women, but we have a lot of guys buy them, too, to hang in their windows or to give away. All ages of folks buy his necklaces at the small sales and fairs we have gone to. They also look at his site to find out more about Harbor Hope Cat Rescue, the organization Charlie donates a lot of his proceeds to.

We get a lot of requests about whether he has a webpage and find that many of the people who want to check it out do not have Facebook, so linking right to FB hasn't worked.

Requirements
Must have
  • * Logos (I have 2 done by design works folks). The one of the beachcombing child is for the website only, the one of the shell angel will be for the website and business cards, etc.
    * Spaces for photos
    * Clickable links to Facebook, Etsy (later), charity(s) he donates to
    * Space for Bio/backstory
    * Contact us area

    Match the blues of the two logos so they are the same shade.

    The look should be young and simple, without being childish. We are beachcombers at heart, so sea and sand colors would work great. All blues (except electric), greens, tans, etc are great.

    I added a ton of images for reference. Please message me if you would like more.
Nice to have
  • * Area I can add the tally of how much he has donated so far
    * Slideshow of images (I uploaded a ton for examples)
    * Page dedicated to images and information about the of the rescue organization he primarily donates to. The rescue organization is dedicated to the rehabilitation and adoption of special needs and abused cats.
Should not have
  • Curlz font or anything too cutesy

    Bright colors, I am hoping for a more muted, seas-inspired look.
