Logo Design Brief

The full name of the lab is the Media and Development Lab, or MaDLab for short. We study screen media effects on children's health and development. Right now we have it written on the screen of a TV, but it's a little too "Mad Men" and doesn't connect with children or development. We want something more sophisticated (this is a science-based research lab) that suggests children without being childlike (no kiddie typefaces). Most of our research centers on the body in some way (e.g., eating habits, sensory experiences, sexual development), so incorporation of body imagery would work too. We'd like the final design to work well in black and white.

• Good black-and-white version, should evoke both screen media and children (or family imagery)

Nice to have

• Overall "feel" of scientific rigor and seriousness, like you might see for a pediatrics unit. It's about children but it's not childish.

Should not have

• Kiddie typefaces or anything that compromises the scientific feel of the logo
