Web Design Brief
Our existing home automation product can only be used from a Smart Phone App and a Desktop App. There's no web app - yikes! We are ready to add one, but we need some help from some spiffy designers to make it look modern and super appealing.
This project deals only with the main layout and a single page within that layout.
Please take a look at the screen shots we've uploaded from our current desktop app. Your mock-up should include elements from those screen shots. Including:
- Navigational menu
- Device list, with each device having room for some basic control, such as on or off
- Device list search
- Device list filter by room
- Device details where the user clicks device and sees more details. In our screen shot, this is the right hand portion of the screen. We need this area to be less constrained in size. This can be in a pop up, modal, slide over, etc.
- Button to turn the server on and off (it's in the lower right in our screen shot)
- Status area (in our screen shots, its at the bottom)
- A way to access extra functions, such as those found in the file/view/tools menu at the top
- If your sweet design can't use our dated device icons and you wish to design your own, that's cool too! Just note that most devices include multiple states, such as an on and an off, an open or a closed, locked or unlocked, etc.
