These characters will be fun colored cartoons correct?

I assume I will be keeping the same appliance shape (body) with just different expressions for each?

also, can I make the solar panel guy standing (or tilted upright,) instead of laying flat like the picture you attached?

Well, I believe that I will be able to set up an expression for each according your comments but my question is, would you like it to be a character for each equipment or just represent the feeling. A character will also include personality of what this equipment is made for.

yes that is correct - they will be fin coloured cartoons.
You can make the solar tilted upright but with the cylinder on the back on him as per the example i have included.
