Illustration Design Brief
I have written the first book in a children's series. It is 14 pages and I need it illustrated. I would prefer hand drawings but understand that is not always realistic, so please submit whichever you feel most confident in. It is based on a little girl who lives in the country and I have images that I would like to reference. My hope is for the illustrations to be very idealic and somewhat realistic, with a magical quality, while still maintaining a certain sweetness and simplicity. My favorite children's illustrator is Eloise Wilkins and I am looking for something very similar, but perhaps on a more modern wavelength. The final budget will be $80-100 per illustration. Please submit 3-6 illustrations and I will proceed with the winner.
Pearl, the main character is about two during this book. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and is very beautiful. She wears little eyelet dresses and old school 70's rompers. Her mother is young and cute and fashionable and has long blonde hair and green eyes. She wears cutoff denim shorts, tees, and cowboy boots, or long dresses and cowboy boots. They live in Texas where it is HOT! But the land is not the flat image that you think of when you think of Texas. They are in the hill country and there is greenery and wheat fields and old oak trees and mesquite trees. The puppy is a little lab mix.
If you need other specifics please do not hesitate to contact me, but I am definitely looking for someone to be creative and use artistic license.
Updates
Please reference images for direction. Again, this is not for the entire project, rather, 3-6 illustrations to help define direction and choose a designer. Added Friday, January 13, 2017
Project Deadline Extended Reason: Extra time for as many drawings as there are. Quality over quantity. Added Friday, January 13, 2017
Fashion is important! I will work on getting some references up. But in the meantime you can visit my company champagne-Thursdays.com for references to both adult clothing and baby clothing. There are several lookbooks to reference. Added Friday, January 13, 2017
Images have been updated to show fashion for both the Mom and baby. An image of the puppy has been included as well and I have extended the deadline because I understand it is a lot of work. More detailed character description is in the brief. Added Saturday, January 14, 2017
Just an update designers. There are two days left in the competition and I have it narrowed down to a few contestants. Please make sure that you submit 3-6 illustrations as I cannot pick a winner based on one. I will also need an agreement from the winner to finish the additional pages for an agreed upon price.
