LIBERTY - Medium-Dark Roast Blend - Africa & Central America

Liberty Blend celebrates the “melting pot” quality that gives our United States vitality.

The Liberty Blend is intentionally mixed and roasted to be bold, the way we’d like all coffee to be. It begins with a refreshing balance of the best beans from Central America and Africa, and ends with a flavor only roasting in America can provide.

The specific flavors of this blend will vary from season to season, as all good coffees do, with coffee farming and cultivation ever changing throughout the year. But the essence of American craftsmanship will always ring true in this blended roast.

We wanted a coffee dedicated to American ideals. We wanted a drink worthy of our Founding Fathers; a drink we’d gladly brew in the great American tradition of consuming coffee—going all the way back to the Boston Tea Party.
After countless roasting sessions and tasting cup after cup of coffee, we settled on a combination of medium-dark roasted and dark roasted beans (we suspect James Madison made his the same way). The resulting blend is technically known as a melange, but we still call it a blend; one in keeping with the diverse and blended nature of our favorite constitutional republic.

SETTLER - Decaf Medium-Dark Roast - Guatemala

HOMESTEAD - Medium Roast - Ethiopia
Bright and vibrant with notes of blueberry

The first Homestead Act of 1862 gave plots of land to farmers in the federally-owned properties of the West. The kinds of people who took advantage of this offer had a unique combination of traits.

On one hand, they were adventurous enough to leave the “settled” lands and move to the frontier. On the other hand, these were people looking for homes. They wanted to settle down, start families, and send down deep roots.

The Homestead Roast honors that curious combination of traits. It’s a member of the Thrasher Coffee family, so you know it’s not going to be the coffee-as-usual you might expect from other roasters. It’s dauntless in that way.

But it’s also comfortable and cordial. The Homestead Roast just might put the word “hearth” in mind. Or “front porch.” That works too.

Vibrant and spirited, with citrus acidity and a smooth finish, the Homestead Roast is deliciously versatile. It wakes you up in the morning and facilitates your after-dinner conversation.

Homestead Roast brews up a golden brown, but it’s not overpowering. In fact, you might call it hospitable, because it always makes room for sugar and cream – or flavored syrup, if that’s your thing.

Even if you prefer a darker roast for yourself, the Homestead Roast makes a great addition to your home or business pantry to ensure you always have a satisfying, rich cup of coffee right in the comfort zone of most coffee drinkers.

PIONEER - Medium-Dark Roast - Bolivia
Sweet and citric with notes of almond

America has always had more than its fair share of pioneers. From Daniel Boone to Jimi Hendrix to Steve Jobs, there’s something in our DNA that drives us to do things a little differently.

But pioneers are nothing if not practical. Because a useless innovation is in many ways worse than a mediocre commonplace.

That’s why we named our medium-dark roast the Pioneer. It’s bold, for sure. But it’s not brash. It’s for the pioneer in all of us—with one eye on the frontier, and the other on taking care of business.

Velvety and rich, with notes of tree nuts and cocoa, the versatile Pioneer Roast strikes out into the unexplored territory of the bold roast profiles.

The medium-dark Pioneer Roast plays double duty. A “Goldilocks” blend that’s not too dark or too light, its flexible flavor profile goes well with foods both savory and sweet.

When some settlers hunkered down and built houses in the fly-over states, the prospectors kept going. They were looking for gold. But they were really hoping for a dream.

The Prospect Roast honors that tradition. Going well beyond first crack, our expert roasters take these intrepid beans all the way to oil-coated glory. This is a bean that goes the distance. For people who won’t settle for anything less.

This dark-roasted bean packs a serious punch. Not all beans can stand up to the intense roasting temperatures required to turn a green bean into a lean, mean, caffeine machine.

That’s why our single origin Prospect Roast utilizes only the most robust beans from the mountains of Central Africa to give you the maximum in bean and roast flavor in one compact package.

But let’s face it. You’re drinking this coffee because you like the complexity and richness that only a dark bean can offer. Sure, this coffee will pair with food. But who cares? This is a coffee you drink on its own. You drink it black.

You listen to music. You light your pipe, your cigar, your fire. This will keep you going. No matter what your prospects.
