T-shirt Design Brief

Looking for a tshirt design that captures the spirit of determination but also looks cool - something kids would want to wear to school.

I'm thinking a boy version and a girl version - perhaps a high kick in the air.

I want the background to incorporate the colors of belt that the students in our karate school earn, maybe in a linear progression or abstractly represented. (White-Yellow-Orange-Blue-Green-Purple-Brown-Black) I would also like the kanji for "heart" (kokoro) to be included or incorporated somehow.

I like the sumi-e style and think it would look very cool done this way, but am open to other ideas as well.

The figure needs to be a young boy/girl, looking between the ages of 7 and 10 years old.
