Character Design Brief

I'd like a logo I can use for the straight consulting work I do and for some of my projects. I'll primarily be using it digitally (websites, social, invoices) but also in some printed kit such as business cards.

I don't work in one industry, but on a variety of gigs in lots of industries eg:
- setting up workshops/training in data visualisation & similar (government, media, corporate)
- developing quality management tools (health, iwi)
- product development & project management (health, iwi)
- mapping & improving business processes/workflows (government, media, health, construction)
- strategic planning (media, health)
- fix-it consulting (getting projects unstuck, restructuring)

My company is called Offshore Ed (it's an old registered name that doesn't make as much sense as it used to). I don't use the name on all my projects, but I'm toying with using Ed or Offshore Ed as a kind of 'character' in some cases.

Either way, I need a logo that's professional enough to use on invoices and docs for serious consulting gigs, but warm and current enough to use on hipster projects.
