Finally, A Website to Help People Find their Perfect Pet

Summary:
OKCupid, Tinder, FriendFinder... There are plenty of websites and apps for finding your human soulmate, but what about your soul-pet? Introducing Pawfect Love, a 'matchmaking‘ website to help pet-seekers find their perfect pet, and shelter pets find forever homes.

About this project:
People need pets - they bring fun, companionship, health benefits and love into our lives. And shelter animals need to find good homes.

But choosing a pet is a big responsibility. Just like choosing a job, partner or home, adopting a pet is an important decision that affects you and everyone you live with.

Most of us have wandered into animal shelters at some point, or searched for potential pets online, and felt overwhelmed. What if you make a snap decision based on first impressions, and get the wrong fit, or overlook the perfect fit because he or she didn’t look quite like how you’d imagined? What if you and your partner disagree on which pet to choose?

You need a pet that fits your personality, location and lifestyle. Animals need people who respond to their needs. Meanwhile, shelters need to find good homes for their animals. It has to be a positive experience for everyone.

That’s where Pawfect Love comes in.

How it works:

1. When an animal enters a shelter, a Fancy Name Generator will be used to give the animal a unique name that sums up all its loveable quirks. Goodbye ‘Young Brown Dog’, hello ‘Sookie the Snuggle Terrier’!
2. Shelter workers and volunteers will create ‘pet profiles’ (right from their phone or another device, using quick and simple software) with a photo of the animal and a really robust description.
This will include their history, age, personality, size, needs, and location.
If there are any potential issues these will be noted on the profile, along with solutions, so that the adopter will know how to best settle their new pet quickly and easily into their new life.

These profiles will appear on Pawfect Love and can be shared via social media.

3. As a Pet-seeker you’ll join Pawfect Love for free and fill in a short questionnaire about yourselves (all answers will be private).
This is really important, as it offers an opportunity to assess what type of animal will suit your lifestyle, and this will also ensure that fewer animals are returned to the shelters.

4. Pet profiles will appear based on your lifestyle, personality and location. You’ll be able to browse from your phone, save your favourites, contact the animal shelter with questions, and arrange a meeting. If there are no matches, you’ll receive a notification as soon as a potential pet enters a shelter near you.
5. Meet your dream pet and take them home. Happily ever after!

Even if you’re not looking for a pet to adopt at this exact moment, it’s still fun to browse cute animals, right? Who doesn’t love scrolling through photos of cute pooches and moggies? (Although we can’t guarantee that you won’t fall for one anyway!)
