I'm a school psychologist working at an international school in Singapore and am completing a book based on 21 years of work as an international school psychologist, counselor, and educator.
The purpose of this book is to provide timely advice to parents raising kids overseas.
-Target Audience: Parents raising kids overseas. These would be military families, expats, Third Culture families, missionaries, etc. The purpose of this book is to provide parenting guidance to parents raising kids while living overseas. As a school psychologist, I work with all kid's of families dealing with all kinds of parenting issues. This book is designed to provide timely, practical, advice to and for parents raising kids abroad. There are unique features with raising kids, but the majority of the day-to-day of parenting is common to all parents.
The Title of the Book is as follows: A Parents Guide to Raising Kids Overseas. I want this title included in the cover design. I want to incorporate something with an overseas theme (maybe a globe with lots of flags, passports on the back, or something creative that indicates living overseas).
This book is divided into about 25 short chapters with a Question and Answer section after each chapter (chapters include: Transitions, fostering responsibility in kids lives, faith, values, truth, stress, marriage, assessing learning issues). The book is designed to be a helpful guide to practical parenting based on my past 21 years of international experience as a school psychologist, counselor, and teacher.
Colors: Open.
-My name along the bottom: International School Psychologist: Jeff
Devens, Ph.D.
-Again, keep in mind the title: Life in the Trenches (these are parents doing the day-to-day of parenting): A Parent's Guide to Raising Kids Overseas.
Updates
Project Deadline Extended
Reason: The title of the book has changed along with what is needed for the cover design. This occurred as a result feedback from the focus group. Please take a look at the new parameters that are being suggested. The "new" title is "A Parents Guide to Raising Kids Overseas." I've removed the "Life in the Trenches" and war theme. If kids are placed on the cover they must be a cross section of 8-18-year-olds, with just as many teens as younger children (if this is used). Also, globes, flags, or passports could be used in cover / back cover design. Please review my edited description.
