Public libraries are the third place in the community; they are also out in the community. They foster collaboration, creation, learning, exploration, literacy. They do have books and reading as their original foundation, but they have gone far beyond that. The target audience is the entire diverse community. Public Libraries anticipate trends in technology and support learning - both formal and informal.
Communicate the essence that the public library us not just about books; it is a community gathering place for exploration, discovery, collaboration and creativity, through a variety of media and methods; constantly anticipating trends and technological advancements. And one does not actually need to go to the library to access its services, it is also an online place and the library is out in the community. The logo will be used by libraries in all sizes of communities; small rural towns/villages and in mid-sized cities. Will have to translate well to monochromatic print. The attached graphic is words used to describe a public library from the International Federation of Library Associations.
