CD Cover Design Brief

We need an album cover for our new cd. The band is called Crimson Voodoo, the music is alt-rock, an interesting mix of styles and infuences- Elements of The Cure, U2, Tom Petty, Neil Young The Smiths and Bruce Springsteen are all evident in the sound. Classic rock with atmospheric elements and sweeping melodies. The album is titled "Everything Happens For No Reason". We are interested in designs that focus on a single direct subject and are not too busy in nature. Visually striking, yet simple and memorable. Stark contrasts between dark and light. Album covers such as Depeche Mode's "Violator", Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon" and Pearl Jam's self titled release are along the lines of what we were hoping for. An idea we had included an image of a man looking at two doors, or two paths, something involving the imagery of decisions (a door number one or number two type concept). Also like simple designs maybe with the subject in a lower corner of the image (this doesn't have to followed if it makes more sense for the image to be centered though). Solid color backgrounds. Colors we like include black, white,deep reds/blues/purples. Not all of them need to be included, but could be (white/black, white/purple, black/red, etc) Please include the band name and album name within the design.

Requirements

Must have

• Band name and album title must be included in design

Nice to have

• Would like to see something "dream-like" but not too much outer space/sci-fi imagery. Would like to see the moon motel image that I have added used in some way.

Should not have

• no skulls or heavy metal imagery. Dark is ok, but in a more artistic way.
