Logo Design Brief
We need a logo (we have never had one before) for Belfast Argentine Tango Society (BATS). We have around 100 active members and are a not for personal profit organisation, which promotes dancing tango in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.
Our website is: http://tangoinbelfast.org/ and for our annual festival website see: http://www.belfasttangofestival.co.uk/
We hire top teachers from Buenos Aires to give weekly classes. We also run practice sessions twice a week, and a Sunday Cafe, all year round.
Tango is said to be the world's hardest dance to learn. It offers great fun, fitness, friendship and challenge. Once you learn tango you can dance anywhere in the world, so perfect for those who travel for business or pleasure. The mental concentration tango requires means it perfect for relaxing, and reducing stress. The final design should be simple and positive, that can be used on all sorts of media: T shirts, website, banners, flyers etc.
Updates
Hi, Thank you for your submission. I have been checking how much it would cost to use the different logos in embroidery, vinyl and print on different shirt types; also how they would look at a small size of around 90 mm * 60 mm on a shirt. Cost is driven by the amount of stitching or vinyl used - this suggests ruling out logos with backgrounds, shadows, and larger, solid figures. Readability is related to simplicity of design and as few words (suggest two) as possible. Absolute maximum of 3 colours is practical, although technically feasible to have 12 colours, but one or two colours is best for less cost and better readability. From informal tests initials (BATS, BT) are just not understood, so not working. Summary, to be usable: simple dynamic design, one or two colours, two - four words max. The designs that have clear silhouettes with a strong connection suggested between the couple may work better. Prefer the dancers do not wear hats as hats are not normal wear for tango.

Requirements
Must have
- Clear and simple, so conveys a positive image instantly. Able to use it for many years to come. People know what it is without having to ask a question.
Nice to have
- Clear, simple colours so can be used on a variety of media and at different sizes, from small coin size to big display banners.
Should not have
- We have had T shirts simply with 'BATS' written on them. This was not successful as it confused people who saw them. We would not rule out a bat theme, (e.g. bat with dance shoes, or flying dancing bats) but must avoid looking like a Halloween motif.
