Logo Design Brief

I need a new logo for my company, which is a database development and IT company. I run the business part time as a specialist consulting service in database design, development and maintenance, as well as some help desk support. My previous logo I made myself which contained my company name along with hand-drawn legal scales. I'm looking to move away from this concept and want something that's a bit more professional, and more closely associated to my principal business.
