Logo Design Brief

I have a logo that I've designed, but it's rough and unsuitable for professional use. I intend to use this logo for all the usual marketing materials (hats, t-shirts, print) and for use on my websites, arohen.com and RonnMcCarrick.com. But, I don't want any text with the logo.

I'm looking for the logo to be a modern take on a coat of arms shield, in the vein of the UPS or Porsche logos. The shield itself should be a simple knights heater shield divided at an angle and colored white in the top left corner and black at the bottom and right. At the center of the shield needs to be a prominent red lion rampant.

I'd be interested in see shields that have a border and those that don't, those with a border might consider having a 'raised' divider crossing the shield and separating the white and black panels.

The lion itself is the source of my discontent with the existing logo. Initially, I was going for a very heraldic style lion, but now I'm leaning to something with a more modern take on the lion. I like the style of the Detroit Lions new logo. I would also be happy to have the lion that I've worked up redone and cleaned up. I'm happy with the head, but the body needs work. The claws are all sorts of different shapes and sizes, the proportions are all off, the look is just sloppy.

The lion is the part of this that I'm most likely to be picky about. I like the logo I have and the color scheme is what I want, but it needs to be polished.

Requirements

Must have

• Must be a red lion on a black and white shield.
  Avoid going with traditional, overly busy heraldic lion, simpler is better. Think of the styling of the lion used by the Detroit Lions of the NFL.
  Must work as a three color logo

Nice to have

• Would be nice to have a 3d type logo similar to the UPS shield.
  Some dimension on the face of the shield could be nice.

Should not have

• No traditional heraldic lions.
