Logo Design Brief

We are starting a new 3D printing company based in Kampala, Uganda. The company is called Omusono Labs (Omusono is Luganda, the prevalent local language, word for "design").

Our goal for the company is to bring the power and potential of 3D printing to the region. For this design project, we're looking for a new, compelling logo that conveys design, technology with a feel for Uganda and/or Africa.

Hello,

Our thanks for all the designers who submitted their entries for the Omusono Labs logo project. Overall, we were quite impressed by the approach and mix of designs we saw. At this point, we are now reviewing our own "finalists" and will be in contact with the winning designer shortly.

Again, our thanks to all those who submitted. If your design was selected, you can expect to hear from us shortly.

Requirements
Must have
  • The logo and/or associated pictorial(s) should look strong Online, in print, and ideally in 3D printed form (i.e. embedded onto models that we print).

The logo should also render well in both color and B&W with the ability to look clean and recognizable in both large (say for a Web homepage) and small (i.e. Twitter handle) formats.
Nice to have
  • Since 3D printers literally print three-dimensional objects, one idea was to have the logo appear to look as if it was being printed from a machine. This concept, however, is not required but just an idea (and the logo does NOT need to appear 3D).
Should not have
  • Would prefer to avoid the cliche Africa artwork (wildlife, acacia tree, etc.). However, an African flair or feel is definitely welcome, but please avoid the standard fare that is found in too many African-based logos.
