I am setting up an online business to sell my photographs. I produce very high quality landscape and cityscape photography. My target market consists of people prepared to pay a fairly premium rate for an outstanding product (they will probably be professional people with an eye for design/aesthetics - maybe furnishing a home or purchasing corporate art for an office or buying artwork to hang in their restaurant/shop).

If people are to buy from me online, they need to have tremendous confidence in me, my brand and my site. Currently I am largely unknown, so this needs to establish me quickly, send out the right message and have personality. So I am having a great site developed. I need a brand identity and personality to match and to catch the eye. The concept of 'Spiffing Pics' is based on the idea that I am a 'gentleman photographer' - the word 'spiffing' being an old-fashioned English word suggesting a slightly eccentric, upper-class enthusiasm. The 'gentleman photographer' is implied to be someone with style, class and a little English eccentricity. He is outdoors. Likes to wear tweed. Etc. Not that all of that needs to explicitly stated of course, but that's the general 'tone of voice'.

I am aiming for a logo that can be used on the website, on all my branding and probably in the corner of my pictures (at least when viewed online) to provide identity.

I have some specific visual concepts and mock-ups that I want to share (see text in this brief and also attached file). They involve Spiffing Pics text as a signature with a stylised representation of an old-fashioned camera (perhaps dangling from the 'S' of 'spiffing' and alongside it something suggesting the gentleman photographer - a tripod and old-fashioned walking stick, pipe, moustache or hat).

The logo needs to be striking. The writing needs to look stylish and high quality - maybe like a sophisticated signature (but easily readable). It needs to be simple enough to work against pictures - so available as black on white and white on black perhaps. Certainly a colour palette that will work in a range of settings. The silhouette-style black on white and white on black versions are essential. Versions with more colour can be provided too if desired.

STRONGLY RECOMMEND: Following the design idea included in the file attached. I am open to alternatives, but I would like to see designs that implement this specific visual idea. (Taking into account the ideas and requirements included in this brief)

  A representation of an old-fashioned camera subtly linked to the text
  Versions that will work with limited colour (silhouette-style versions required - black on white and white on black versions required) - but also a version that can use colour if it suits your design
  Something suggesting the 'gentleman photographer' (see uploaded file for this - I mean things like a flat cap, a moustache, a walking stick, a pipe - something of that sort).

Should not have

• Anything that seems to modern or boring
  Anything where the text is unclear
  Something that is too visually complex as it needs to be striking and work even if not seen too large
  Something that needs lots of colour to work (though a colourful version can be supplied as well)
