Flyer Design Brief

We need a double sided flyer to "sell" the concept of a new debating uniform with kilts for Knox Grammar School.

Why does Knox Grammar need a debating uniform?
- Knox has had unparalleled success in debating recently and has lifted its profile enormously reaching the ISDA finals this year
- debating is now beginning to be seen as a key school sport with a growing group of participants and supporters
- first impressions are important in debating and our teams often arrive in different uniforms
- as Friday is cadet corps day some debaters wear cadet uniform (which may, depending on the day, be regular camouflage or ceremonial uniform with kilts, or a mixture) and some wear regular school uniform, some with blazers on and some with them off
- this is in contrast to other schools whose appearance is usually identical and impeccable

Why kilted?
- Distinctive!
- strong school tradition
- the Macpherson tartan is one of the key insignias of Knox Grammar School
- Highly Photogenic! Will draw more attention to the teams in the public eye and in the press
- boys like wearing them, they are cool
- will draw further interest in debating from potential participants
- the boys are used to wearing kilts
- Intimidating to the opposition in the greatest Scottish tradition!

And remember "A man in a kilt is a man and a half!"

The rear side needs a picture of the three kilted men walking along
- you can use this picture attached or another but the men need to be YOUNG with short hair and and no beards or moustaches
- their kilts need to be changed to the Macpherson Tartan (attached)
- their jackets need to be changed to Knox blazers in Royal Blue with school insignia on pocket. Note piping. Keep the cut of the jacket the same as in the 3 men photo.
- their ties need to be changed to school ties (dar bluw ith royal blue diagonal stripes)
- the three figures to have different waistcoats (vests)
- one with a bright red waistcoat, one with royal blue waistcoat matching the blazer and one with no waistcoat at all, just a white shirt under the jacket

TEXT BOX AS BELOW

The proposal:
- a debating uniform will be worn by all [senior] debaters
- this will comprise:
- a school kilt in the Macpherson tartan
- thistle kilt pin
- black kilt belt with silver thistle buckle
- a plain black and silver leather sporran (not the horsehair sporrans which are more military)
- a white shirt
- school tie
- school blazer cut down to kilt jacket size
- possibly a waistcoat in royal blue or red (for discussion)
- dark hose
- black shoes

There is a large supply of the Macpherson tartan kilts available. The only items which would need to be sourced are the sporrans, belts, hose and cut down blazers. Old blazers can be recut to be suitable as kilt jackets, this is not a major exercise.

Must have

• 2 photoshopped photos, one of single boy debating (dressed in new uniform) on FRONT and one of 3 young men walking along on BACK with the new kilts (tartan sample attached) and jackets of royal blue. Please note that the photo retouching is the most important part of this job. We need to "mock up" the new uniform.
