Logo Design Brief
Looking for logo concepts for a professional regional chamber orchestra in the San Francisco Bay Area. Name has recently changed from Pacific Chamber Symphony to Pacific Chamber Orchestra. URL: pacificchambersymphony.org
What differentiates PCS?
• Intimate (small venues so audience is close to musicians)
• Professional “All Stars” from around the Bay Area (musicians who also perform in San Francisco, in pit orchestras, on recordings, in film)
• Long-standing relationships between musicians/Lawrence Kohl (conductor)/PCS (they choose to be a part of PCS, demonstrates their passion)
• Programming strength (Great concerts!)
• Interaction (between Lawrence Kohl and audience); very intimate; Kohl's interpretation leaves audience with greater knowledge and emotion for the music
See document attached (PCS Design Crowd Info) for more details about the organization.
Updates
Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We are extending this design contest as we have not yet seen many designs that are on strategy. We do not want to see any literal translations of symphony or Pacific/Bay Area (no musical notes or Golden Gate Bridges.) Please look at the current website www.pacificchambersymphony.org to see the current logo -- the design of the F is very cool... but the whole look must be more modern/bold, eye-catching, etc. Many fonts we are seeing are very old-fashioned. Thank you!

Pacific Chamber Orchestra logo should not have the word THE before it. Also, no literal references to musical notes, staffs, instruments or the Golden Gate Bridge please. thanks!

Requirements
Must have
- Design concepts must be reflective of the brief; must be able to be reproduced easily and clearly, in both small (on letterhead, website, etc.), and larger format (banners, posters, etc.) Will need black & white version in addition to color.
Nice to have
- Explore stacked version of logo text, as well as vertical and horizontal options. Current logo is very horizontal. It would be nice to have it slightly more compact.
- Also, it would be nice to have a version of the final logo that can be applied to promotional materials (buttons, etc.) so may need to develop a circular approach as well.
Should not have
- more than 2 colors; busy, intricate artwork, references to San Francisco (Golden Gate Bridge or other landmarks);
- Please, no literal translation of instruments, musical notes, etc.
