Logo Design Brief

I need a logo design for a small building company based in Nelson, New Zealand, The company is called Scott Eathorne Building. Our main area of work is building new architectural designed homes. we are looking for a design that is simple, clean, modern and professional. This logo will eventually be used across all of our site signage, vehicles and stationary. The colours I would like to use are blues and black or greys to keep some continuity with the old signage. I have attached a photo example of old signage. I do not like the fonts used in it I think they are a bit too bold.
I have attached the logo of another construction company in the same city (Scott Construction) I need to differentiate my logo from them as their logo is quite similar.
