Graphic Design Brief
Twiga Clothing is a girls athletic line that specializes in personalized apparel. This means we apply the name of the wearer in specific locations on each garment.
We are looking to expand the line with new prints that we will place on the waistbands and hems of our leggings, crops and shorts. Part of this design will be a way to incorporate the wearers name.
Currently we have two different designs that we use. One is a stripe pattern and the other is a floral print. Pictures will be attached. Notice how the name has been incorporated into the design.
We need new designs for the waistband and hem areas. Basic templates will be provided.

Target Audience:
Girls 8-14 yrs old.
Potential Ideas to draw inspiration:
- Draw from seasonal trends: I don't want to say anything specific as I want to see what people come up with.
Limitations & Considerations:
-The print must always be darker than the fabric. So it is always good to start the design using black.
- The design must always incorporate an area where the name is going to be located. It could be once, twice etc.
- The name must be easily edited.
- All files must be adobe Illustrator (.AI).
- Some names are longer than others so enough room must be incorporated into the design to capture both short and long names.
- With darker fabrics line thickness below 1pt will not show very well.
Colour Limitations and Considerations:
- When printing on a coloured fabric, other than white, use tonal, one colour prints.
- We can print on white waistbands. This may be an area where you can use multiple colours. 2-3 Max.
FYI: Printing Process: When we get an order:
- Add the name to the illustrator artwork.
- Print the artwork using a sublimation ink printer
- Apply the print out to the fabric in a heat press. This creates the pattern piece that will then be sewn into the garment.
FYI: Manufacturing Process:
- The garments are not pre-made. The panels with the graphics and names are printed and then sewn into the product.
