Logo Design Brief

Frameworks Metal Structures Inc. is a new company specializing in supplying and installing an innovative metal framing system for the modern residential and commercial industries. Our system is a substitute for wood and red iron and we therefore refer to it as STEEL LUMBER.

The key to our system is a metal v clip (see pictures below). Clips are screwed into long metal pieces to create beams and joists. These are then used to frame houses and buildings. (see attached pictures) Our system is ideal for modern builds where clean lines and open spaces are important.

Please keep in mind that our customers do not buy clips. They buy the whole framing system that allows them to have what they really want which is the modern build with clean lines, energy efficiency and structural integrity.

Our competition in the metal industry is BONE (please see http://bonestructure.ca/en/ to get an idea of the type of houses we build with our system.)

For fonts we like fonts such as the one used for Hummer and the detail font in the attached page- really any strong font that is unique and has represents strength because our metal system is extremely strong.

The final design should communicate strength and have a modern look.

We do not want house images, tools ,clipart or stock logos. We want a logo as unique as our product.

Requirements

Must have

• an abstract logo
• Designer image (not overly corporate)- we are targeting architects and designers
• Able to look great in colour or white or grey to use in different applications
• In terms of colour, we want something that implies we are in construction but do not want a rainbow look or something too corporate.
• We are open to a vibrant colour such as yellow #FFA100 OR orange #F05A22 combined with a darker colour. Can also use blue, green or red. Again, we are open here but want a pop of colour somewhere in the colour version.
• Please provide a white on charcoal background version, a dark version on white background and a version with some colour. We will need to put the logo on business cards, trucks, website, emails and want to make sure it looks right in different ways.

Should not have

• mountain looking logos - for example 2 triangles places so that it resembles 2 mountain peaks.
• We do not want logos with obvious FMS as the symbol part. We find having FMS and then the full name is too overpowering with letters.
• colours: no brown, no navy and white combination or too corporate
• traditional corporate look
• images such as houses, tools,
• no literal beams or joists or the clip (we like the use of an abstract triangle but not the literal clip as it ends up looking a bit dated)
• stock images or logos
