Graphic Design Brief
The Bruery has a brand new beer being released in early July 2013 and we would like you to design the label!
“Ebony & Oak” is the name of this new beer. It is a bourbon barrel aged stout - hanging in at around 8% abv. It’s rich in character from the dark, roasty malts as well as the time spent in previously used bourbon barrels - giving a flavor of vanilla, toasted oak and rich fruit - but without the intense alcohol of some more ‘imperial’ stouts.
Not familiar with our brand? We are a boutique craft brewery, located in Orange County, CA, that specializes in experimental and barrel aged beers. We have a passion for creating exciting, genre bending beers and they are all sold in large format, 750ml bottles - similar to a wine bottle.
We have a wide array of bottled beers, each with labels uniquely their own and while we are looking for your own, inspired artwork, please keep in mind that it does need to fit in line with our current branding. If you aren’t familiar with our labels, you can view a handful of them here: www.thebruery.com/downloads or at our ecommerce store: www.thebruerystore.com for some of the current releases.
Attached to this posting you will find an Adobe Illustrator file that contains the proper die cut for the label and gives you an idea for our standard layout, but you can feel free to start from scratch as long as you use the same die cut shape. We typically use copperplate and janson text fonts on our labels. If you don't have these fonts, you can use something similar and we'll change it around on our end if your label is chosen.
Updates
PLEASE NOTE. THE DESIGN MUST BE ON THE SAME DIE CUT AS THE ATTACHED FILE.

Requirements
Must have
- Being a publicly sold alcoholic beverage, there are a number of legal guidelines that must be adhered to, as well as some of our own guidelines that pertain to each label, and are as follows:
-Name: “Ebony & Oak” or “Ebony and Oak”
-Contains Alcohol - The phrase “CONTAINS ALCOHOL” in bold capitalized letters at least three millimeters in height and that is distinguishable from the background and placed conspicuously in either horizontal or vertical lettering on the front of the brand label.
-2013 Edition
-”8% Alc. by vol.” (must be written exactly like that)
-1 pint 9.4 fl. oz.
-”Brewed & Bottled by The Bruery, Placentia, CA
-”stout aged in bourbon barrels” this must be the general description of the beer.
-if you would like to include a more distinctive description, feel free to type in as filler and we will create the final descriptor.
-if you would like to include a quirky saying, as most of our labels have on the bottom right corner, feel free to come up with something of your own, or just leave space for us to fill it in.
