Logo Design Brief

We are a UK based startup looking for a logo for our web app called 'timely practice'.
Timely Practice is a web application to help teachers teach maths to GCSE level student by using the theory of Spaced Repetition to help students remember topics so they can be more successful in passing their exams.
The application will be sold to schools directly, and used by teachers and students. The logo should be professional, but still evoke a modern, young technology company feel - so no mortar boards, blackboard fonts etc.

We are looking for something modern (web based technology company).
We would like to use the logo with the name, but also be able to use it as a symbol on it's own.
The logo (or recognisable part of it) should be usable in square format to use as an app icon for example - although the whole logo does not need to be square.

BIG IDEA: We like the idea of a logo thats gives the idea of time intervals getting larger - We particularly like the image of skimming stone over a pond or perhaps stylised clock face etc.

Small idea: We also think that the logo might include the idea of the "spiral curriculum" - this is where instead of spending quite a lot of time on each topic (but only visiting the topic say once a year), students spend a shorter time on each topic but revisit each topic several times a year.
However we don't want the spiral (Small idea) to take away from the time intervals getting larger (BIG IDEA).

Please don't be restricted by these ideas, and feel free to use your imagination!

Background:
Spaced Repetition is a system designed to help you remember ideas by testing you at just the time when you are on the verge of forgetting. This time gradually increases as you learn, and so you need to test less frequently as your learning progresses
