Book Cover Design Brief
I need a book cover design for a world history book written for a target audience of high school students and progressive teachers. The book is more balanced towards a world history perspective than a Western-leaning perspective. The first 500 pages deal with the major turning points in world history - from the first hominids that roamed Africa to the end of the Cold War, and the final 100 pages cover the major challenges facing the world today. The book is 95% graphic details, hopefully-engaging stories and needed facts, but there is a bit of sarcasm, verbal irony and asides thrown in to keep the reader's eyes from glossing over. I would need a cover that would appeal to any school teacher, but something that would not scare off students or the average Joe off the street.

As far as a central image goes, it needs to be a dynamic (avoid something readers would readily see elsewhere in their lives) image, or nothing at all. Also, please justify all text on the back cover to the left side (avoid centering).

- I've enclosed a PDF with the text for the front and back cover.
On the back cover, I'd like the quote and the initial question to stand out. I'd like the initial question to be in lower case.
For the spine, I'd like the title font to match the title front from the front cover.
The book cover needs to measure 9.25" by 13.75" with a 1.5" spine. Allow .125 inches for the bleed.
I've attached a Word Document with all the text. The layout is just a suggestion.
