Character Design Brief
INTRODUCTION
We are currently developing an exciting new method for online payments. Its a web app and will be called 'GoGo.' Without divulging how we do it, GoGo will be a speedier, more fun way of paying online for those without credit cards. We want to get away from the serious look of online payments sites like paypal and boku.com. GoGo is something more approachable, quirky, clever, and sophisticated. GoGo will predominately operate in South East Asia and target young internet savvy twitter users and facebook users. Whilst we have our own ideas and designs for a logo. We thought it might be fun to open the field up to designers the world over to let loose on this.
FONT + CHARACTER
We want the GoGo font to be accompanied by a new iconic lovable character. We have experimented with birds, foxes, original creatures, blobs, japanese style cutsey things, the list goes on...We have a few favourites, but want to open it up to you. Nothing too western or too asian in style. Something simple, striking, cute and iconic.
Most interested in something invented. Or a unique twist on an existing animal.
Blobs, weird shapes, big cute eyes. Funny invented creatures are all welcome. Please - no more plain looking birds.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
What we want from the Logo is something that takes the following into account:
1. Is professional, contemporary and online (e.g the likes of twitter, facebook, youtube).
2. Perhaps shows the speedy and secure nature of using GoGo.
3. May or may not incorporate a mobile phone in it. GoGo is largely a mobile-phone related payment system (something like www.zong.com, but with a twist). But we aren't sure we need a mobile phone in the logo though.
4. Is fun (in regards to characters we are particularly fond of 'foxkeh' the Japanese firefox, the hootsuite owl - see more below)
5. Simplicity (we admire the simplicity of dropbox.com)
6. GoGo is more or less pay as you go. Being on the Go(Go). So that is something to think about.
LINKS TO INSPIRE GOGO CHARACTER ICON
We hope designers will have a lot of fun with this one. We want an instantly cute (awwwww), but cool (i.e can have a bit of personality/attitude) ICONIC character to represent our brand. We are open to different types of animals or invented creatures. We intend to make soft-toys of the character, so please nothing too intricate. It should be cuddly, but cool (so boys and girls like it). Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Character's we love (see attached document also):
a. FOXKEH: - We like the illustrated/japanese look. We imagine our character to be able to change and engage in different activites like foxkeh.
b. We like the twitter and skype general style and color scheme (aqua/blue)
c. NEKOBEAN: cute
d.TARE PANDA (but please no pandas - this is just for cuteness inspiration) e.
e. HOOTSUITE OWL (we LOVE this guy - see www.hootsuite.com)
g. Hello Kitty
General Logo's we love:
a. Google
b. Skype
c. Twitter
d. Dropbox.com
FONT
We love the twitter logo font. And the skype font (bubbly), but are open to new things. Google logo and Dropbox.com is also cool. Don't be afraid to be daring.
NOT CORPORATE, STILL PROFESSIONAL
We don't want anything too corporate or dull. Something that makes teens and young adults go "WOW, COOL, RAD, FUN, CUTE"...but they still need to take us seriously.
CONCLUSION
Let the creative juices flow.
Updates
Hey guys,
We like what we have seen so far, but please search for the following characters in google images to get more of an idea of existing characters we love:
Check out:
- twitter logo
- hootsuite owl
- firefox fox
- foxkeh
- nekobean
www.zong.com
Also we particularly like the design style of the x-team.com (who revamped twitter). We don't want to copy twitter of course, we just like the quality and simplicity, yet the vivid colours.
GoGo is a business focussed in South East Asia, so we don't want Walt Disney style Western cartoons. :D
All that being said, please don't be afraid to invent new iconic creatures/ characters etc...

I like the works so far, but its not quite there. I'm trying to move away from twitter-esque birds etc. While I like twitter and its an inspiration, I don't want to just imitate it.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next...
Looking for something truly unique

I'm liking a few of the designs so far, but I'd like to see some movement in the characters. Make them look more zippy, speedy, on the move. Flying in hyperdrive.
Just something other than static, dead-pan characters.

We have decided that we are most interested in something invented. Or a unique twist on an existing animal. Blobs, weird shapes, big cute eyes. Funny invented creatures are all welcome. Please - no more plain looking birds or pandas etc.
We want to see something original, modern, cutting edge, funky, new, fresh. hip stylz

Thank you everybody for your great designs so far - we have a few favourites already but we won't make our final decision until tomorrow. Me and my team are going to decide the winner by group vote.
We encourage any as many submissions of crazy cool designs over the next 24 hours as possible. We look forward to being suprised. Like I said we have current favourites, but its not over until its over.
Also, we have reposted the document 'white-blob inspiration' which was corrupted (sorry). The document is now called BUNNYS AND OTHER CHARACTERS WE LIKE (check the design brief) We like bunnies - but really anything goes. We are looking for the "one."
GOOD LUCK n_n :D

Last update before we make the vote tomorrow. As we said in our earlier post - we are very happy with a number of the designs submitted so far. We welcome more submittions over the next 24 hours before we make our final decision tomorrow 1. Check out the recent document we re-posted 'BUNNY AND OTHER CHARACTERS' as part of the design brief. This document might give you a better idea of the speedy kinda simplistic logo we are looking for. We want to see speedy movement. (it doesn't have to be a bunny, although this seems to be our favourite so far). 2. We had a meeting this morning and decided that we need to try to incorporate a mobile phone and or the concept of payment/online shopping into the characters? Maybe just will simply be a mobile signal going from the ears of the character. In any event, we are ultimately a mobile payments company and need to convey this in our logo. 3. Can you re-look at the twitter logo on the homepage at www.twitter.com. We are ultimately looking for something cute, but professional like this. We like a number of the logos but feel they could be more polished. 4. Finally - please feel free to submit any new designs you like over the next 24 hours. We totally understand if you don't have time. We appreciate the work you have done so far. However, there might be one last logo out there that will really surprise and that we fall in love with instantly. Look forward to seeing further submissions today. Surprise us :D
We thought we would post one last general feedback note. Here is some more general feedback in case you have the time to submit new designs/make variations over the next 24 hours:
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN for your work so far. We will let you know what we decide tomorrow.

We like a lot of the characters submitted so far. But not many of the fonts:
1. We like 'PicPix' logo font in this link:
http://www.blogiseverything.com/files/pics/web_2.0_logos_small.jpg
We hope someone can make the GoGo Blue and have 'Mobile Payments' in the green little box that says BETA.
2. Can you also try a simple fonts like the 'Rollyo' logo, the 'flickr' logo and the 'Taggly' logo here:

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We need to extend this deadline because I am suddenly having to travel today and am unable to be present for the vote to determine which design is the winner. I would like to make the decision over the weekend, when things are less rushed.
Thank you for your patience. We apologise for any inconvienence.
Warmly
Brandon

Hi everyone, About - established in 2011, Photoaid is a non-profit organisation that enables people to give to important causes around the world through photography. Yes, through photography – its rather unique! Photoaid's founders seek to combine their passion for photography their love for helping others. In a nutshell - Photoaid partners with world-renowned professional photographers who donate pictures to Photoaid. These Photoaid Photographers send in captivating images from around the world. Depending on the subject of the photo and the region or country it was taken, each image is then linked to 3 regionally-relevant non-profit organisations and posted on Photoaid.org (not yet running). High quality prints (on paper or canvas) of Photoaid photography are up for sale with the full purchase price of each print going to one of the 3 linked-in non-profit organisations. We have a basic logo [which can be viewed at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PhotoAid/230487846965391] Our current logo shows two 'L' shapes. These are supposed to represent two hands framing a photo. Also when you combine the two Ls they form a red cross - this shows the "aid" element of our organisation. The two L's are also made out of vintage photo film. We are looking for a more professional rendering of our current Logo and are also open to fresh, convincing and strong Logo ideas. Read more at: http://jobs.designcrowd.com/job.aspx?id=10719
