Logo Design Brief

I need a logo design for a start-up consulting firm with a very specialized niche: to provide consulting and advice to nature centers and similar environmental learning facilities (think parks, botanical gardens, zoos, etc.) to help them accomplish their objectives and achieve financial viability in a way relevant in a 21st Century world. I especially assist with the development of new things--new buildings, new exhibits, new business models. My clients are almost all non-profits and governments. The final design should communicate a contemporary, modern feel. A hint of "nature" would be appropriate but not essential--and should be biologically accurate, even if it is simplified or stylized. I'll need both a long version of the logo and a "stacked" version, since the company name is long, and should work in color and black & white.
