Character Design Brief
I need a cartoon wizard character used to introduce the Japanese writing systems of hiragana, katakana, and kanji. The character should be cute, fun, yet like a wizard that teaches.
Updates
Let me first say thank you to all for your time that you have put into this project. They are all wonderful designs and logos and I wish I could use them all.
After discussions with my team mates, I wanted to provide some clarifications. My team consists of two Japanese, and four US citizens.
We want a design/logo character and web site title that would be easily scalable. Simple is best. Most important, it can not be so cute that an American college student would not find it interesting. The age we are talking about are the 20 somethings. But it should appeal to younger views as well, but the main target are those English speaking college students in their 20's interested in learning Japanese.
The American people on the team have enjoyed the oriental character designs. But every oriental character design so far is either very young, childlike, or looked Chinese! The Japanese on the team did not like them at all. There are some differences in the facial structure, eyes, etc. So if you are submitting simple oriental characters, please try and make it appealing to Japanese as well as Americans. Nothing too cute, and make sure it is Japanese.
There were a lot of designs that were outstanding, but not simple. We want a logo-character, not a design that would take up much space. It needs to be simple and not too large. For example, look at the logo of DesignCrowd.com. Simple.
I hope this helps narrow the submissions down a bit. Again, we really appreciate all the great designs. I wish I could use them all, but unfortunately we cannot. Thank you again.
