Logo Design Brief
I'm looking for a playful, bold, logo design for my new blog, which discusses all things User Experience (UX) related - see uxchap.com for further details.
The logo should be representative of one of the key principles of UX - simplicity / keeping things simple.
I also want it to exude an element of class / luxury, as my aim is not to make my blog, another average, "run-of-the-mill"-type of thing.
The blog theme I have chosen, is very clean and sterile - the posts sit on a white background, and all of the text is black. A solid-coloured logo should fit nicely with this theme - perhaps even, a plain, black one.
It'd be great to showcase both my "cool" and "geeky" side in the logo, if deemed to work well. My thick-rimmed, black spectacles, are somewhat of a notable feature.
It's important to note, that the logo will also be used across social platforms, so needs to be instantly recognisable, as a small logo, when used as an avatar, for example, on Twitter. The clarity of the logo, shouldn't be lost, when scaled down to a very small size - it should still be instantly recognisable in that sense.
As the logo is representative of me, as both an individual and a brand, it'd be great to explore character logos, like KFC & the Michelin man.
I'm also a huge fan of US sports, and really like the design of some of the teams representative logos - think NBA, NFL, MLB and SEC logos. This is another area I'd be keen to see explored, with some of the submitted designs.
One final idea, would be to look at a superhero-type character / emblem. This could work quite well.

Requirements
Must have
- Playful and bold, but with minimal use of colour. Simplicity is key.
- The logo must work well, from a branding-perspective, as both a standalone logo (without the requested text), as well as with the requested text, in support. I'd be looking for two variants of the logo to be supplied, with the chosen design, in that sense.
Nice to have
- Integration of my "cool" and "geeky" side - by no means essential though, if deemed to overcomplicate the logo.
- As the logo is representative of me, as both an individual and a brand, it'd be great to explore character logos, like KFC & the Michelin man.
- I'm also a huge fan of US sports, and really like the design of some of the teams representative logos - think NBA, NFL, MLB and SEC logos. This is another area I'd be keen to see explored, with some of the submitted designs.
- One final idea, would be to look at a superhero-type character / emblem. This could work quite well.
Should not have
- Overuse of a multitude of colours. The logo should be limited to 2-3 colours max.
