Logo Design Brief

I need a square logo that can also be used in a banner or letter head format.

The company brand is FunKey, and specialises in IT software development and smart phone apps. See www.funkey.com.au for more background.

The current logo is awful and associates the company with "Funky" by use of a 1970's style groovy font.

I need modern, crisp, fun but not silly, solution/puzzle solving, simple.

An idea was to mimic the "F" letter from a jig-saw puzzle top-left-hand corner piece. And I'm thinking the border could be like a flattened notebook style key - simple thin 3D'ish.
