I am starting a new business in the northern suburbs of Chicago. The business is helping high school seniors craft distinctive essays for their college applications. The name of the business is "The Write Angle." It is a play on words using "write" instead of "right," but also the word "angle" is important because the college essay needs to have a unique "angle" in order to make the student stand out from the crowd.
I would like to see the logo to communicate that I am creative, but solid and smart. I like geometric shapes and a very clean and modern look. I think the logo has to have one or more "right angles" so it connects to the name.
Also, very importantly, the point of the business is that I will help the students write essays that will make their application "stand out from the crowd." So I'm thinking that the logo might have a bunch of gray squares or other right angles that are all the same, and one -- using the accent color and on a different angle -- that stands out from the crowd. It would be ok to convey the message that the "correct angle" is NOT the actual "right angle."
I prefer that the logo to be limited to two main colors so it is not costly to print on things and it is a clean, simple look. I like the idea of (1) blue-gray and gray or (2) maroon/dark crimson and gray. But I am flexible as to color as long as it communicates trust, intelligence and expertise.
I have attached some examples of logos that I was trying to design myself. They convey the point of the need to be different, but they are uninspired.
I like the logo for the company Eighty20. Although it doesn't convey my message at all, it has the nice, clean, geometric look I like. http://www.eighty20.co.za/databases/index.cgi
