As a creative, I am inspired by my surroundings, life-skills and the motivation to develop my abilities to their full potential. Starting as a Junior designer for a community newspaper honed my design skills, gave me a knack for journalism, taught me how to cope under tight deadlines and gave me the confidence to carry my skills forward in more challenging roles. Working on magazines such as Cleo, Woman & Home, Food & Home, Rooi Rose, Garden & Home and many more has given me valuable experience within publishing. Moving on to major international corporate company, I have learnt to be creative within strict branding guidelines for some of the world’s leading companies. This role also allowed me to gain a keen eye for detail as well. Working alongside companies in Europe I had to keep up with my time management skills making sure deadlines were met and work was signed off in time to be sent through to the printers, which also is where I gained pre press knowledge and understanding the printing process. My current job calls for keeping to strict deadline getting the catalogues I work on to print on time making sure we fall in line with the launch date. I also have basic web and animation skills, which I learned through a course with Vega School of Communication. I am currently supervisor to a junior designer within our marketing department and finished a part time Supervisory Management Course. I would like to further my knowledge by learning new ways of design be it digital, animation, web, mobile, etc. I am always willing to learn and further myself and grow as a person. With 17 years experience in the design field, I work well under pressure whether, in a team or on my own. I enjoy challenges and embrace change. I enjoy learning new things that will further my knowledge of the job and growing within my specific role. I am an artist. I am a people’s person and love interacting with my clients and colleagues. I am a disciplined worker, enjoying the challenges the job has to offer. I enjoy the variety of needs of different clients and also learning and building strong brands. I have a passion for design, and a desire to succeed and grow. hide
