A veteran of Design and Project Management in the Architecture, Signage and Graphics disciplines, David Plante brings a unique skill-set to the industry through a deep understanding of the needs, requirements and execution of these disciplines and how they are integrally related. Signage is a big word carrying a broad definition and incorporating an array of technologies, specialties and skills; bringing architects, graphic designers and skilled tradesman together. It is rare to find an architect who understands signage, a graphic designer who understands architecture or a skilled tradesman who understands graphic design, and because of this signage often falls into ambiguity, defined only by a sparsely worded division 10 spec. However, there are few elements of our built environment that have more importance than signage. Whether it is used for advertising, identification, information, wayfinding or any other graphic medium for conveying information, signage is the first thing that people look for in the navigational process and can be as simple as a white marker on a wooded trail or as elaborate has a theme park entrance corridor. hide
