Each one of us sees the world through a different pair of eyes, which makes my role as a designer that much more interesting. Whether I am flipping through magazines to staring out my window, I find myself constantly observing my surroundings. Certain events that occur throughout my life have an affect on the way I develop my work—the end result is always unique. This creates more interesting and dynamic pieces, setting me apart from other colleagues. Personally, I strive to stand out through different ideation strategies and techniques that I have learned through my growth as a designer. We, as a society, have become so consumed with materialistic things that we sometimes forget to take the time to step back. Being able to truly appreciate the environment around us plays a key role in discovering new artistic ideas. If I find that I have hit a creative block, I remind myself of what my dad once told me: “You find beauty in ordinary things”.
